@kristapsk @giacomozucco For governments only. Basically unused and abolished due to incompatibility with real world needs. And 1971 also have been a LONG time ago. Lightning != Bitcoin. And it is not *really* processed until it is actually in the Bitcoin chain. As in - money is not in your account

@aigarius @giacomozucco Lightning is Bitcoin. After every LN tx, you have fully signed blockchain tx from both parties you can broadcast at any time if you want. So basically it's settlement (harder settlement than VISA, for example).

@kristapsk @giacomozucco Until the money is in your account, so you can use it for other purposes, the transaction is not finished. If you have to not *just* trust Bitcoin, but also some additional level two protocols, that just adds layers on top of layers of trust and technical problems.

@aigarius @giacomozucco You can use it to pay other parties accepting LN payments seconds after you receive it. Layers over layers is how Internet is built, that's natural for networking protocols.

@kristapsk @giacomozucco As I said. It's not Bitcoin. It is just another minor crypto that claims convertability to BTC. An overcomplicated mess trying to fix the unfixable.

@aigarius @giacomozucco No, it's not. Every LN tx involves exchange of fully signed Bitcoin transactions between involved parties, they just choose to not write them to the blockchain at that point.
