Currently targeting 60/40 home/office work. So still relocation Ulm would be expected. One big bonus is "free" car every 2 years. Basically you configure a BMW car, pay 0.75% of its price per month (usage tax) and all service, tires, gas/charging in Germany, insurance included.

So for like 500€ per month you get to drive a 80k€ car (leasing that with insurance would be around 1400€ + gas/charging costs) and get a new one every 2 years. Right now I am waiting for my new red BMW i4 M50 coming soon(ish).

Also note that this is a long term decision. BMW has not fired/downsized people en-masse since .. 1940s. If you are doing good work, willing to learn new things as needs change and you enjoy the company, you could easily work in BMW until you retire (with a solid pension fund).

Oh and the software work is happening basically only in English. There are German language and integration courses offered if you wish to take them and if you wish to work towards German citizenship.

And there are special courses provided for driving in extreme situations: how to control oversteer/understeer, stop and steer on ice, drifting, race track driving. How to react if a development car brakes fail or engine goes into 100% power mode. Could save your life on streets.
