In short, the challenges that the Baltic media companies faced were similar and costs cuts were inevitable, however, there was a slightly different focus in each country, partly because of the financial situation of media there. In Lithuania, media companies are profitable -->

-> and as a result more companies there commited to protect their employee jobs and wages, and would rather loose some profitability. In Estonia, the focus was on digital transformation and organizational change, reorganizing the ways of working.

Meanwhile in Latvia, the financial situation of media companies is worse than in neighbouring countries. In 2019, 9 of the 15 media houses owning most popular media outlets suffered losses. Another crisis was not what it needed.

Yet, in Latvia media got highest support of all three countries from the state, and particularly for content production and other related expenses. Though it did not compensate in full the losses media suffered, it did give some breathing space.
