I'm so fucking confused. I've been practicing increased hygiene for weeks, before it was even declared a pandemic. I went to my aerials studio once a week, everything is sanitised to the nines there, and I took all precautions. 1/2 10 atbildes

This past fortnight I went to the park rollerskating twice, ate out at small local businesses three times, and to a friend's house once. All while practicing diligent social distancing and sanitising like crazy. I did this because the official advice was NOT to sit at home. 2/3

I have not been in contact with anyone sick or even with anyone who could be a contact of anyone sick. I'm not sick, obviously. I'm a high risk group for complications. But at no point was social distancing sold as "stay at home at all costs". So I didn't. 3/4

All this makes the moralising over "young people not having taken precautions" absurd and infuriating. Even now the messaging is confusing. I've heard conflicting advice from health experts. Also see this, via @abcnews https://t.co/Ytx6CPZ5u2

So to all the social media 'epidemiologists' out there, stop blaming people for having left the house in recent days. Most of them probably didn't do it because they're reckless, but because they were literally told it's okay to do it - as long as they're careful. Fucking hell.

@nevertoocurious Problem is people pick and choose what they have been "told to do". They have been told to decrease non-essential activities. Going for stroll is not really that essential. Yes, it is annoying. Yes, sitting in 4 walls is a prison, but if you can't do proper isolation, you can't.

Having seen the trajectory of this thing, I now WILL be staying at home, unless I need groceries or need to look at a tree in the local park two blocks away. But don't you dare say that we're in lockdown because people like me didn't stay at home. That's bullshit.

@nevertoocurious So no, it is not holiday, and it would be wise not to go somewhere because you like it. Yeah, that sucks, but that's how it is. Even if leaders do not want to spell it out, it has been communicated quite clearly. People just choose to not to listen to that part.

@pecisk Bullshit, we were not told to socially isolate, we were told to practice social distancing. Huge fucking difference.

@nevertoocurious I think proper term would be physical distancing, we can chat here just fine right? Second, lot of people openly ignore that, like in UK. I am not talking about people going out carefully avoiding everyone - I mean, I have to go to shop right. But those are few.

@nevertoocurious No one says going out is bad. But it seems people stretch that idea quite a bit and want to carry on things as usual, but we can't. That's whole problem.
